Mei reached out to us on Instagram, and before anything else, we did what we always do — met over coffee to see if the vibe actually matched. It did. Imran, a film producer himself, walked in with a clear vision of his own for the day — not something he needed us to shape for him, just someone who could execute it right.

That vision started with the couple portraits, and it showed the moment we hit the streets: direct flash, black and white, hard shadows falling off concrete walls and city underpasses — an old New York look, more street photography than bridal portrait. We chased it through stairwells, parking structures, and a stop at a moody whisky lounge, The Macallan room lit low and gold, before Mei changed into a soft rose satin slip for a warmer set against the same concrete backdrops.

For the wedding itself, they kept it close — a five-course meal at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, attended by family and their closest friends, under a reception backdrop that read "IMRAN & MEI" in white florals against a moody, candlelit ballroom. Even the welcome screen carried Imran's film instincts through — a vintage, silent-film-style title card announcing "Imran & Mei, 23 December 2022, #YesImranMei," styled like the opening frame of an old reel. Partway through the evening, Imran took the moment into his own hands and sang for the room, the same monochrome, old-film visual thread running quietly through the night behind him.

It was the kind of wedding that felt directed without ever feeling staged — Imran's eye for story showing up in the details, and Mei right there with him for every one of them.
