Budget reality: Bali delivers luxury at a fraction of European prices. A villa wedding for 50 guests that would cost six figures in Tuscany can be executed beautifully in Bali for half that.
Seoul, South Korea
Seoul has emerged as one of the most exciting destination wedding locations in Asia — and the biggest surprise on our inquiry list this year.
The appeal is the cultural richness. A hanok ceremony — held in a traditional Korean wooden house — is one of the most visually striking wedding settings we've ever documented. The architecture, the traditional hanbok attire, the formality of the pyebaek ceremony — every element is photogenic.
Modern Seoul offers a different energy. Rooftop venues overlooking Gangnam, converted gallery spaces in Itaewon, and luxury hotels along the Han River provide contemporary backdrops for couples who want tradition and modernity in the same celebration.
Best season: April to May for cherry blossoms — the most romantic backdrop imaginable. September to October for autumn foliage — warm golds and deep reds across every frame.
Photographer insight: Korean wedding halls can be challenging — they're often formulaic spaces designed for efficiency rather than beauty. The magic happens when couples choose hanok venues or outdoor settings where the architecture and nature do the work. Cherry blossom season portraits are extraordinary but the window is narrow — roughly two weeks. Plan precisely.

Photographer insight: desert light is the most dramatic we work with. The golden hour in the Dubai desert lasts about 40 minutes and produces colours — deep oranges, purples, and golds — that look like they've been enhanced in post-production. They haven't. The desert just does that.
Budget reality: premium to ultra-premium. Dubai caters to couples who want the best of everything and are willing to invest accordingly.
Tokyo and Japan
Japan offers a wedding experience that's equal parts tradition and precision. Every detail is considered. Every ritual has meaning. The aesthetic sensibility is unmatched.

Couples planning a cherry blossom wedding should have a backup aesthetic in mind — because nature doesn't guarantee timing. That said, when it works, it's the most beautiful natural backdrop on earth.
Budget reality: mid-to-high range. Japan is not cheap, but the quality of every experience — food, service, aesthetics — justifies every yen.
Thailand
Thailand offers three completely different wedding destinations:
Chiang Mai in the north brings mountain temples, lantern-lit evenings, and a cultural depth that beach destinations can't match. Ceremonies at ancient temples surrounded by jungle-covered mountains feel spiritual and grounded.

Best season: November through February — cool, dry, and comfortable across the entire country.
Photographer insight: Thailand's beaches are popular for a reason, but the most visually interesting weddings we've seen here happen in Chiang Mai. The mountain light, the temple architecture, and the evening lantern traditions create images that are uniquely Thai — not just "tropical beach wedding."
Budget reality: Thailand offers the best value in Asian destination weddings. Luxury-level celebrations at prices that make European and even Bali venues look expensive by comparison.
