Rangefinder's 30 Rising Star of Wedding Photography 2017

NAMED ONE OF THE

RANGEFINDER's 30 RISING STARS OF WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY 2017

Hold on to that dream.

A secret I no longer able to keep. It's a long writing post. Trust me, I rarely type this long. Not easy, putting my thoughts and heart into words so you will have to bear with me through this. But good things are meant to be shared with others. 2nd Sept 2017, right on 12 am sharp wifey wishing me "Happy Birthday" as usual and I'm sitting in front of my laptop still waiting for that specific email.

After 3 hours waiting, nothing went in, I gave up and went to bed. Woke up in morning feeling puzzled, did I get it?

Check my email again yet NOTHING. Self-doubt and lots of other fear and negativity keep lurking in my mind for quite sometimes. What went wrong? I need the freaking answer! Try to look at the positive side and keep telling myself, "It's ok, try again next year, you still have time. You can do better, just hold on to that dream".

My wife has been HIDING that specific email from me, then she passes me the phone to show me an email that was received around 0330am while I was sleeping. It was the email that I've been waiting for. Time felt a bit slow while I'm trying to unlock my phone and go thru my email. Heart pounding fast. Did I make it or not? How will I react to this regardless I make it or not? And the big question is what next? She said, "You made it, love.!" I was super skeptical at that time, maybe she was joking to make me feel better or something. Then I open that email. Read it thru. Then double check on my computer too.

Is this for real?

I just couldn't believe my eyes, I keep reading the email again and again and again. Took a deep breath and take my time reading it again. Eye's a bit teary this time and speechless. All those fear and negativity that been in my head for the past few weeks gone in a blink of an eye. Excitement kick in. Emotional roller coaster some might say, I have no idea how to put it in words while writing this.

Every year more than 200 crazy talented and amazing photographers around the world are nominated by invitation only. Only 30 of the best will be selected as Rangefinder's 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography. For those of you who don’t know, Rangefinder is the official magazine of WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographer International), likely the most important association in the world. It's pretty big deal for me, so heck yeah!

The honest truth is I didn't expect to be nominated for this year, got nominated and need to submit my work for it was a huge honour. (whoever you are that nominated me, thank you!) My work also has been selected among over 200 nominees as one of Rangefinder’s 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography 2017.

Yep unreal but true. (still, couldn't believe it). My dream came true.

Yes, this is the email that I receive, the answer that I been waiting for since the day of the submission. A secret I have to keep from the world for quite sometimes until now. So for this I take my opportunities to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my family, friends and also my amazing clients for putting your trust in me. For the good folks at Rangefinder Magazine, It's was a privilege, a huge honour to be part of the 30 Rangefinder Rising Stars family and also to the other photographers which I'm sharing this year Rangefinder 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography 2017.
